Why don't you just play it on the tuba you sound and feel best on. As a "guest artist" you need to make sure you sound terrific. I wouldn't speculate on what the kids or band directors are going to say regarding the size of your tuba. "He sounded fantastic" is good enough and let them come up with the reasons why or why (not). I don't think Chuck of the Canadian Brass worries about what his audiance is thinking about the equipment he chooses to use. I would think making music would be his primary concern.
