No1 can tell you this besides YOU.
Play on other moutphieces before you buy. I myself play on a Conn Helleberg and love it. I (me) like the thin rim, others do not. Its ALL preference.
I started on a 24aw as well, When I got tryouts with a college tuba one year he told me that "all all state players pretty much play on hellebergs" so ofcourse I bought one. It turned out good for me, but If I had it to redo I'd of tried out other mouthpieces.
One last thing, give yourself plenty of time if you have regions or contest coming up, now is a bad time to get one. I could play all my "normal" tuba music from band. I couldn't quite do my all region AS good on my 24aw. Now a year later from both experience and prolly this new mouthpiece My range has almost doubled and I can site read stuff I would of only dreamed of last yr.
hope some of that helps
