My school recently bought a 45slp, and it plays fine. Really nice, solid upper register and a free blowing lower register. Vaughn Williams plays real easily on this horn.
I've never played on the slz, but I think it might have a slightly larger bore than the slp. I know the slz has only five valves, and that the slp has 6. I really think a 6th valve helps out.(and if you want to buy the slz instead, I think it comes in a 6-valve model the 46-slz)
BUT- if you're going to invest in a new F horn, I would say to try and play them both if you can first. But if you want an opinion, I'd say go for the 45-slp.
Hope this helps a little.
