FYI - My tuba does not have the detachable bell, so I don't think it is a W. Bell model. It really looks just like the current model 32(so I guess it is), except with a thumb 5th instead of left hand. I bought it around 1988, and my guess is about 1970-something vintage. What I think is cool about the tuba is the rose brass bell (in sound and look).
Original Post -
I have had a tuba for around 15 years now, which I bought used from another tubist. It is a CC tuba, with "W MEINL WESTON A DIVISION OF GETZEN" on the bell, and no other markings except a hand engraving on a valve "C65-162". It is five-valve (thumb convertible 5th) and has a rose(?) brass bell. Can anyone help me with any info. on this tuba? Model, age, how to find value (for ins.), and any other specs. or history would be wonderful to find out. It is a great tuba and has served me well in many settings.
