When I was in a gigging group, we found that many of the people wanted something different. We chose not to focus on the traditionals, although they should be in your folders (sometimes you just have to play something Baroque.). The Make Believe Brass (& Paul Chauvin)will sell some of their arrangements. Our audiences LOVED The Big Band Montage, The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, the Mancini Medley, and Laura's Stairway to the Stars. Hava Nagila was another frequent request. Make sure you have Happy Birthday and the Star Spangled Banner too. We let the other local quintets cover the "stuffy" gigs and we got the fun ones because we were more audience friendly!
