I have recently performed the Bach-Gounod "Ave Maria" in a Sunday morning service, at my son's wedding, and for a Baptist Sunday evening music festival. In the past I have played "Blow Ye The Trumpet" and the Romanze from Mozart's Horn Concerto in Eb. Both the Ave Maria and Trumpet works I read directly from vocal arrangements and the Mozart from the Wekselblatt "Solos For The Tuba Player." There is a web site by a guy who writes solos based on famous hymns specifically for tuba. The site is called "Tubas In Church". I've listed the URL below. If you're only interested in "classic" solos you can bend almost anything to fit, and I say with that with a certain amount of caution. You need to use good sense when trying to adapt some solos to church use. Whatever you use should fit the occasion and be appropriate for your congregation. Hope this helps a little.
