The knuckle as far as I know is the bit of metal tubing that is silver soldered onto the valve casing. Can any of the repair techs out there confirm this? The valves came from a four valve Eb Reynolds sousaphone, though. I suppose I could route the tuning slide into the fourth valve to avoid either of the possibilities that I mentioned, but I'd have to be convinced that it is better, not just as good, if I were to go through all that trouble.
