You want to be careful tampering with the manufacturer's leadpipe. Most times, they are designed to match the horn! ;-)

Seriously, I've looked at switching leadpipes before on horns and I always seem to come back to the stock leadpipe. If the horn is worth owning, it generally comes with the right leadpipe. Conversely, particularly with the Besson products, a smaller mouthpiece might be best for the horn. By smaller, I mean a mouthpiece with less cubic inches on the interior. I've heard that such mouthpieces are in common use in europe and it is completely possible that the design of your horn plays best in tune with a smaller mouthpiece. Larger isn't always better.
