Hey Guys. I have read some good advice from some of the repairmen that read this newsgroup so now I need some help.

I just purchased an Amati "F" tuba. I want to fix it up. Here are my questions. I know some People chop up horns and put different parts for theirs. THe reason I am asking about this is because after looking at other "F" tubas my bell is really small. How does this effect the horn? It is a 14" bell and all the other ones (Miraphone and Yamaha for example) Have 16.5", and 17" bells. That is a big difference. Should I look into getting a bigger bell?

Second question. Bore size. I have seen that my horn (.709 bore size) is kind of small too. Other horns have .770-830 Could I actually make the bore size of my horn bigger by getting a bigger lead pipe? Or will that ruin the horn?

I thank you in advance for your questions. I am sorry I don't know, I don't want you guys to think I am an idiot.
