Folks like Christopher Meeder, Jay Rosen, Carl Ludwig Hubesch, Melvin Poore come easily to my mind when it comes to loading reeds as a sound initiator for tuba. There are some others, but I'm at work, so I don't have my CD library handy. Check-out Melvin's solo CD "Goundwork" (Random Acoustics 005), I seem to remember a fairly long piece using extended technique with a bassoon reed encumbered tuba.
