When the Miraphone Tuba Quartet toured some 13 US colleges 4 years ago, they talked about the saxhorn and how it is still very used in the historical band there in Paris.
They have one group a more formal style Wind Ensemble and then have another group that plays historical instruments and they are separate bands. They are Police bands ranther than Military but play for all the main functions like the Military bands here like the Presidesnt's own. The Wind Ensemble is larger.
