I think heating is part of the solution, but you may need to encourage the trumpet mouthpiece a little. Two ways to do this, and both require finese and care. Secure the trumpet MP in a vise. As you heat the tuba MP shank, gently tap its end with a plastic or hardwood "punch". This can be any piece of plastic or hardwood that you can come up with. Operative word here is TAP, not hammer. The heat should expand the tuba shank and a little tapping around should move it enough. The other way is similar, but would be opposite. Secure the tuba MP, heat, and use a punch with a slender flat end through the tuba MP and tap the end of the trumpet MP. Don't put the punch into the shaft of the trumpet MP, it would tend to expand it. I have a set of chisels and punches and I've found the flat end punches work well to true a MP shank.
