It is the way that the rotor opens at the beginning that make starting the note feel and sound different.
How the note starts is where the efect will be when I was talking about moving with or against the airstream.

Find 2 tubas that are set up differntly and play them. you will see that 2 turn counter-clockwise and 2 turn clockwise. Play this one and then play one where they all turn counter-clockwise like the newer Miraphones.

Play anything with a 3 or 4 valve in the combination and you will hear what I was talking about.

Pros have paid to have the rotors set up to all turn counter-clockwise after buying a new tuba that had rotors going 2 left and 2 right.
