Well, I'm fairly ignorant myself (about copyright law among many other things!)
But I was really struck by how short the excerpts were. I seem to remember something about "fair use" that would allow short excerpts to be used for educational purposes, which this certinly is. Considering that it is only a short fragment of one of many parts, my feeling was that they should be OK.
Also I think the original works themselves would pretty much be old enough that copyright wouldn't be much of an issue.
Any real experts out there?
