1. I have been an NEA member for 25 years only because my state organization is affiliated with them. They are affiliated only because the NEA has the best access to benefit packages for its members. My state organization has good sense, and goes its own way idealogically. The NEA national leadership is a pack of drooling idiots.

3. It would be nice if all parents would be required to do the same. I teach at a good school that's known for exceptional parent involvement, but I still see far too much parental negligence, poor judgment, utter lack of common sense in raising children, and abandonment of responsibility. The bad ones are far in the minority, and I couldn't handle being at a school where it is the rule.

4. True, but don't forget that there will always be a few exceptional cases that merit exceptional measures.

5. I don't know Chuck, but I'm sure that I'm the poorer for it.
