Because of scheduling problems at my school, I'm having to teach elem music this year. Ken's answer is right on; however, most elem music teachers use a variety of methods- movement (Dalcroze), rhythmic/ instrumental (Orff), vocal (Kodaly), a text with CD's (Silver Burdett, Macgraw Hill), and/or whatever they can find to teach their students.

The alternative to elementary music is what was happening 10-15 years ago, cutting all music in the elementary schools.

Joe, what would your elementary curriculum be? I could use some ideas since I mainly teach band and haven't taught general music in 16 years.
