It's not unusual that the BBb tubas sounded little fuzzy to you, but i'm sure you would adjust to contrabass quickly. If you had tried a large bore CC, you MIGHT have had the same problem, but then again, CC is closer to Eb than BBb is. What I am trying to say is- Don't worry to much about it Steve. It will take you less time to get used to centering a BBb than learn CC tuba fingerings. it's not surprizing the getzen sounded the best right away, I think it has the smallest bore of any of the BBb tubas you listed.
If it was me, pick the one that had the sound you loved. My pick of that list would be the 191, hands down, but if you can try a 2341, you won't regret it.
