My teacher, Dave Unland (Don Harry teaches at Eastman) is a wierd guy when it comes to mouthpieces. He plays everything on one mouthpiece, which is basically a giant toilet bowl. He wants absolutely no resistance when he plays, whether it's in the mouthpiece or the tuba, so he goes to extremes.
As far as my intonation goes, it just started recently. As in like a couple of days ago. My teacher suggested retuning the tuba lower instead of how I have it now. (I'm not too sure about this, but I'm willing to try anything).
