Once you get it into your computer as a WAV file (using cool edit) be sure to spend some time removing the pops and clicks that are always there on old LP's. I find that the easiest way is use the tool that replaces the highlighted segment of the wave (the pop) with a flat line. When you higlight that section be sure to start and stop at points that are on the time axis. In that way you can replace a nasty pop with a nearly inaudible click. Sometimes if it's a fairly periodic waveform in the neighborhood of the pop you can past in a segment of an adjacent wave, but that can be tricky. You can also snip out the pops, trying to make the seam smooth and invisible, but that requires you to save and re-open the file each time. (at least with the version of cool edit that I am using.)
