I am currently selling an ACB-601 (I'm asking $5000) that has been modified for my purposes. I paid more for my horn 10 years ago (new and un-modified) than you're paying now and my horn didn't have a main tuning slide stick. As long as the horn doesn't have any major problems, I'd say you're getting a pretty good deal. Depending on how you feel about it, you may want to do some modifications on the horn to improve its playing. One thing you'll certainly want to consider is adding a fifth valve. The good news is that all the fixes you might consider (at least that I know about) can be done by a good repairman and you can obtain factory parts to make the horn and modifications look like they belong rather than looking sloppy or rag-tag. If you have any questions about the modifications I mean, either check the archives (I've posted this information many times in the past) or contact me privately.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

My opinion for what it's worth...
