I wouldn't recommend this as a first-time do-it-yourself project.
One of the problems with brass is that it's like pie dough--you can stretch it easily enough, but unstretching is a different matter. You could really make a mess out of the horn.
The best tool for this job is a dent machine. It's an expensive piece of equipment. I'd advise finding a good repairman who owns one of these and knows how to use it. You'll save money in the long run.
