Hendrik-Jan Renes
Hendrik-Jan was born 9 november 1958 in Baarn. He studied at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam with Adriaan Boorsma, former tubaplayer of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.At age 21 Hendrik-Jan Renes got the tuba position with the Limburgs Symfonie Orkest (1979). In 1983 he went to the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest. From 1988 he has been principal tuba in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

Hendrik-Jan Renes plays with the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, the Doelenensemble and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Brass. He made several tours with the Netherlands Brass Quintet to the United States, Canada and Indonesia.

He has been a soloist with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest and the Netherlands Wind Ensemble. For television, he recorded the Concerto for Tuba by Vaughan Williams with the Radio Filharmonic Orchestra.

Hendrik-Jan Renes is a teacher with the Rotterdam Conservatory, Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp.
