Hi All,

I just got off the phone with Bob Rusk about the BESSON tuba that this thread
is about. The tuba in question started out life as a Besson 3 valve top action
NON compensating tuba. This would be by todays models a 700 series. Bob used
the bell, bow and branches of the Besson, flipped it to front action and cut the
tuba to CC. He put a NEW set of Getzen CB50/G50 valves with 5th rotor onto the
body and added he thinks an ALLIED leadpipe. The bore then is .689. As far as
I know the restoration and plate was done at Badger State Repair in Elkhorn, WI.
The instrument is on consignment at BBC and comes with a Walt Johnson case.
Andy Smith is correct that is has a Besson sound and I think best suited for
Brass Quintet and small groups, the same places you would use a Yamaha 621 CC.
This tuba is just a tiny bit smaller in size than the 621. Hope this clears
things up.

Thanks for listening,
David Fedderly
