Dear Jason,

I must start out by saying that the old conn sousaphones are awesome. I have
a 1964 20k which just does wonders for me. As far as the valves sticking goes,
if the valves guides are in good shape and don't need replacement-then I would do this:

First, I would make sure the guide lines up with the slot properly, maybe the slot is too
narrow and would need to be filed down. Then if that made no improvement,
then I would also file down the valve. Use a nail file or very fine sand paper. Many
times dirt, grit, rust, etc. gets on the valves and causes much friction that would
cause sticky valves.

If all else fails, dig out the old king sousas.

Good Luck,
Jesse DeLucca
