Hagmans not because they will increase very much in size when the bore increases from the present bass bone standard of 0.562 to the 0.800 or more, that is a not uncommon bore of the 5th valve of the really big tubas.

I have only had a Hagman Besson bass bone in my hands once. To me the mechanism appeared to be held against its bottom bearing by a spring. A concept I was not very comfortable with.

I am not sure whether the balanced valve is milled out of one piece or whether it has airpaths soldered inside a cylinder. In the latter case it would follow just about the same pronciples, that I suggested.
