I just "found" an Alexander 163BBb tuba that my university didn't know existed. It's apparently from some military surplus that was donated a several years back. It's pretty dented up, and the "dent shields" or 'peeling' off around the edges... but it's in just barely good enough condition to not need a complete overhaul.
I also found a Holton Fiberglass sousaphone in a pawn shop for $150 my freshman year. Bought it, used it for a "clown" gig once, then sold it on that website for a hefty profit.
