I don't think we're talking about the same horn. The one I played was a shiney silverplate and was owned by a euph student at the University of Illinois. I played the horn in the fall of 1984. What a player! That large leadpipe gave it such a huge, dark sound. This horn didn't sound like a euphonium, it sounded like a small tuba. It was a tuba player's dream. It did take a tuba mouthpiece barely, but I tried it with the bass trombone mouthpiece the guy who owned it was using. There was no adapter for the receiver that I saw. Hopefully, I'll run into this horn again someday.
