I've carried my 6/4, 3/4, and F in gig bags for 15 years. I have never had any problems in vehicles. I have hard cases for all three, but they are incovenient. The only incident I had was when I tripped after a job and fell, denting my F inside the gig bag (back pack style). Operator error (too many beverages). Obviously, cases are always better for protection. If convenience is important, or cases are to bulky for your vehicle, INVEST in an excellent gig bag. I agree - get insurance. All that money we spend and we don't insure our precious babies? You'll be glad you did.
