Great part, but I would say, let the euph friend have his/her fun and you keep practicing. You could come across as greedy or a whiner and neither will do you any good. Instead support the euph friend and even go to the concert and give some constructive feedback if appropriate.
It is only one concert and a few rehearsals. A reputation can last a lifetime. Ask anyone who rode in a certain van with me on a return trip from the 1992 ITEC. That was nearly a decade ago and they still hold that one against me.
