When playing multiphonics, some notes are impossible to get perfectly in tune while using the same type of air stream used on the notes that are in tune. I noticed this when trying to sing a major scale starting on, say A natural with the valves depressed with the combination for Ab major or some unrelated key such as that. If you notice, some notes just do not pop out correctly in that diatonic scale. It's crazy. Probably has something to do with the whole overtone bit, and add to that the even crazier overtones achieved when you are singing a 13th or something over the note you are playing.
