I think a king 2341 would be a nice horn to get. You must remember that rotary valves sometimes can be expensive if needing of repairs. Dillon music has two 2341 listed on their site. Check them out. The yamaha 321 is often judged as a bad horn on here but I personally played one while in high school and in no way did i feel shortchanged by it. I however think it is not the way to go for your son.
