Your choice of cracks verses corner failures.
Even with unwieldy "anvil"-style cases, the corner hardware (due to extra inertia caused by extra weight) gets busted loose.
No philosopher, me, but anything that is made of matter is subject to destruction.
(You can get "beefed up" wood cases from Wisconsin with extra corner brackets, etc.) What size do you need?
