The Prestige Besson is merely the same euphonium that Steven Mead ("that Brit guy") helped to develop about three(?) years ago. If any of you folks would have went to Midwest last year, you would have seen the Besson people there giving the "world premiere" of the horn. This was supposed to have happened last year for cryin' out loud.

For the gentleman who says that the Sovereign plays a lot better than the Prestige, you'll be delighted to know that there were very few modifications made to the Sovereign. The most easily recognizeable modification with the Prestige is the gold plated caps, bottoms, and bows and a left-hand tuning trigger that is standard on most Prestige horns (unless that aspect has recently changed). An absolutely beautiful picture of this horn can be found on Steven Mead's 1998 CD entitled, "Concertino."

Mr. Mead will be playing this Euphonium at the Octubafest at Duquesne University on October 14, 2000. I am sure he would be delighted to hear of your "problems" with the horn that he plays so beautifully. In addition, Lance Laduke and Neal Tidwell will be performing with the River City Brass Band on Friday, October 13 as a part of Octubafest. More information about this event is posted below.
