The point being: The earlier Conn Hellebergs did NOT have a stamp because there were not two different sizes offered. This is a relatively new development in the scheme of things. If Gus Helleberg were here today and you asked him if his was an "S" or a "7B", he wouldn't know what you were talking about. The early Conn Helleberg was called just that. Now, whether or not the first production models bore any resemblance to the one used by Mr. Helleberg, is an interesting source of speculation. I suspect the early models were similar in basic proportions to the "original", but with subtle things like rim shape slightly altered to fit the needs of the vaster majority of customers.
