I appreciate the comments Mr. Hall has made. It points out that there are plenty of uses for the various bass instruments as well as various useable combinations. I think that over time we have had to slim our numbers in bands in order to extend the funds for the players. I miss hearing the results of having tubas, euphoniums, bass clarinets, bari and bass saxes in jazz groups. I've been on both ends of poor miking as well. I feel for the player and the situation.

My jobs with the orchestra were mainly aimed as the simpler dance band because that's where the money is these days. As they don't come through my area a lot, I look forward to each opportunity I do have with them. I hope the call for that society dance scene continues.
