Hello Jay, I am not sure what you mean exactly by "you can't actually control your diaphram." Perhaps the idea that it actually comes from the diaphram is incorrect. It is more like a pulsation in the air stream. I can pulse the air fast or slow. I can also change the intensity of the vibrato by pulsing the air harder or hardly at all. Or I can not pulse the air stream and use a "flat" or straight tone. I do agree though that everyone should try both and see which works best for them. In the end the sound is what really matters, not how you do it.
