to the best of my knowledge
the symphony is "union" with a collective barganing agreement. It is not a part of the American Federations of Musicians.
software authors DO give their hearts and souls into their work, though we may not understand it, there is beauty in lines of programming code. Some of these writters do retain the rights to the software and get a piece of each time it is distributed. Every time a recording is sold, the musician (musical programmer) who retains his rights (via professional union contracts) he gets a little tiny piece.
Most of the soundtracks coming out of Seattle are studio recordings by studio musicians, not the Seattle Symphony as a whole.
Chris Olka is a heck of a player, bring your best to the table.
