I am selling my Eb Suzy. It's a Conn-made stencil horn, sold under the brand name 'Continental Colonial'. The serial number is 533469, which dates the horn to 1955-56 according to the Music Trader serial number list. The bad news: it's got LOTS of dents, dings, scratches, etc. The valves leak, to the point of affecting intonation. Thick oil helps a lot, but not until it gets thick enough to slow the action. The good news: the lacquer is decent for a horn of this age, it comes with a gooseneck and bit, and best of all: it sounds so warm and buttery I hate to let it go. If I could bend it into a concert tuba, I'd sell my 10J and get the valves done, but to keep playing it I'd have to (a) get a valve job, (b) find a place to keep it, and (c) not get the euph I'm wanting to get.

I'm asking $200 O.B.O., and would really prefer not to ship it, so while I welcome any interested parties, I will give preference to Dallas area buyers for now. I would gladly meet you to show the horn.

BTW, what IS the going rate for a sousaphone valve job these days?
