I remember when I was little and used to ask my Dad wide-open questions with wide-open answers.
If I would ask, "How much does a house cost?"
Instead of answering, "Which house? How big of a house? Where?" He would instead simply answer something like "$50,000", and that would be the end of it.
Perhaps someone needs to answer your impossible-to-answer questions in the same manner.
