I appreciated your post very much. I was one of David Randolph's first group of students at UGA, way back in 1973. And like everybody else who knew him, I was saddened when I heard of his death. He left us much too early. You're correct when you say that he was an exceptional human being, and he taught me a lot about life as well as about music. We're all going to miss him.
Nevertheless, change is a part of life. IMHO it does not dishonor David's memory in any way for us all to wish you the best of luck in your new assignment at UGA. It's not a matter of replacing anyone, but of carrying on a very high standard as you mentioned. I think the studio is in good hands.
