I heard pretty much the exact same rendition of the design story, but from Rex Martin instead when I was a student at Northwestern. I liked the Shilke Helleburg II on the Yorkbrunners, but not really on my HB-21. I use the 30H on my Yorkbrunner and am crazy about it. It has more presence to the sound than the Helleburg II, while retaining the cleanliness missing from the PT-88.

I tried it out on my business horn, namely a four valve Miraphone BBb Sousaphone. I was using my PT-88 for it, but tried the 30H and it really cleared up the articulations and sound. I just wish Scott made the 30H with a plastic rim for snow storms in Arlington.
