Kabin Thomas brought a sound to the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra that it had not previously been fortunate enough to have. He made the trip from the University in Fayetteville to Little Rock for rehearsals and performances, and it all just became too time consuming. Tubists in Central Arkansas will miss getting to hear him in the orchestra. I make the trip from Little Rock to
Fayetteville when ever there is an opportunity to hear Kabin in recital. His recital performances are works of art. He includes performances by his students and various other musicians. He even had an accordian player who was spectacular. He is indeed a great teacher and role model for his students. His presence in Arkansas, setting a standard to which other local tuba players can aspire is truly appreciated.
