On that thumbring, I found something that works. Just canabalize a fairly thin rubber mouse pad (for computers; sometimes given away by stores as promotional items) and use the pad material in place of the original cork on the thumbring. Contact cement works to glue it down, rubber side facing out. The thumbring on my 983 has stayed put for months since I did that.

Has anyone noticed that the Besson 983 and 993 are minus some of the protective hardwore that one is normally accustomed to seeing? The customary ridge of brass is not present on the side opposite the bell.
