Good luck! Conn would sometimes use the same model number on horns of different designs. Earlier 34J's were the front action standard stroke 'Grand Orchestral' horns. Later in the 50's, the number 34J was often used to refer to a standard piston version of the short action 20J series horns. I believe the 34J became the 4 valve, bell front.
The 34J on E-bay however, was a great old front action horn with .773 bore valves. It used to play great, but I havn't played it since the new bell, etc. My 2 cents. Matt
