Hello ,
I just wanted to say that you might not want to limit yourself to just a small solo F tuba when wanting to play solos. There are many fine Eb tubas out there that can do the job just as well and can be found most of the time cheaper than F tubas. I personally own a Besson 981 and just love it. See if you can obtain a copy of John Fletcher doing the Gregson and the V.W. It is most impressive to say the least.
If you have your heart set on an F tuba for solo work only then thats fine too. But, if you plan to use it for other things like say Quintet possibly some chamber work then maybe you might want to go alittle bigger than a 3/4 F tuba(this is just one opinion), I am sure there are people out there who do just fine with a small Ftuba in a qiuntet situation).
Check out Baltimore Brass web site, Dave Fedderly has a few different Ftubas in various sizes posted from$3200-$4300.

Good Luck shopping,
Pete
