No disrespect to Mr. Perantoni or anybody's instrument, but you're ability to play will determine whether or not you can pull a military gig. Perantoni is a great teacher, so it stands to reason that he has many students that are doing very well in this industry. Keep in mind that many other teachers, as well, have very successful students. They don't teach them how to be good players, but they DO teach them how to teach THEMSELVES how to be good players. No one can MAKE a student practice, but the best teachers make a student WANT to practice...know what I mean? I agree with the person who said that you are your own best teacher. You'll be the one to decide how good you are and whether or not a military band is right for you.
