I recently purchased a Henry Didtin E-flat tuba (circa 1894) that is in tune with itself, but very sharp. Originally my solution was a new leadpipe. A sousaphone bit did the job for a while, but I am having a new leadpipe put on anyway. It seems to me that all horns may have been sharp at that time. I would suggest a consultation with an excellent technician, e.g. Matt at Dillon Music in Woodbridge, NJ.
