That acid probably won't hurt cork, very much. It WILL (if it is similar to Slime-Away, and I think that it is) probably promote the flaking and disintegration of old, brittle (non-epoxy air-dry) lacquer (but, so what?). You MIGHT want to remove the cork plates on a rotary tuba prior to pouring this junk around the valves simply to prevent acid from welling up between the cork plates and the valve casings (might make ugly green stains), and it lime removers work LIGHT YEARS better if you remove ALL of the valve oil and slide grease with some sort of thinner/solvent/whatever first. AVOID allowing lime-removing acids from coming into contact with steel (long rod inside finger levers, etc.)...They will RUST, and the finger levers will "freeze". {:^0

My brother has a good sense of humor, and leaving a post here (particularly leaving a sensible one) is right in line with his brand of humor. He is a Washington, D.C. bureaucrat... the type of person who makes all of us work until the end of May every year before we get to keep any of the money that we earn, and he used to (snicker, snicker) play the (LOL) clarinet.
