O-rings with a suitable cross-section should be available in Australia. In the U.S. they are available in Neoprene (normal), Buna-N (nitrile), Viton, Silicone, EDPM, Teflon, and Polyurethane. I would stay away from Teflon, and would tend to prefer Neoprene, Buna-N, or maybe Silicone. You probably want a hardness of about 70 on a Shore A Durometer scale,
although softer durometers (like 30-40) may work for the rebound side. One 4 inch diameter O-ring should last you a long time, and a supplier may just give it to you.
