Hi, I inquired thru a friend of mine how is the best way to strip lacquer off a tuba. I've heard and gotten instructions on using all sorts of harsh chemicals. I would rather(as I'm sure anyone would) like to find an easier and less harsh method. I recently got instructions through Eric S. from Cinncinati Conservatory that a method I could use to remove lacquer is simple auto rubbing compound. He said if I swirl that on I could remove the clear coat lacquer from the exact spots I would like to remove the lacquer. Does anyone else know of this method? I heard that it works really well and is fairly easy.
